Candidates must be based in Italy as we are unable to support remote working from outside the country due to local employment and tax legislation. /p pThis role sits within Deltatre's Engineering Technology function, reporting to the SVP of Engineering Delivery, at the interface between external and internal clients and the multi-disciplinary teams building and running the OTT streaming and connected consumer experiences for major international sports and entertainment brands. /p pAs Technical Delivery Director, you hold delivery accountability for a portfolio of programmes - directing delivery leadership while staying personally credible in the architecture conversation, and personally present when a client escalation matters. You own end-to-end delivery against customer needs, while ensuring engineering squads' contribution to the core product meets Deltatre's standards for quality. This is a delivery-focused leadership role, not a hands-on coding one: you'll be judged on delivery outcomes and squad health, coordinating the team rather than writing the code yourself. Alongside other technical principals, you lead architectural decisions within the agreed architecture, drive requirements gathering and estimation, and combine your engineering background with the leadership and mentoring that scale a team's standards over time. /p pYou'll take initial ownership of 6 delivery squads (around 40-45 engineers), with the 6 squad leads reporting directly to you. This is an expansion-oriented role: as the team and business grow, the remit may extend further, though nothing beyond the current scope is confirmed at this stage. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 h3End-to-end delivery ownership /h3 ul liOwn the delivery of client programmes end to end - requirements, defining buildable scope, managing delivery forecasts, managing launch and release, and ongoing project run /li liReport exact delivery status across all reporting squads and external dependencies /li liMaintain high standards of technical delivery, including code contribution processes, Definition of Ready, and Definition of Done /li /ul h3Squad and team leadership /h3 ul liTake ownership of 6 delivery squads (around 40-45 engineers) initially, with the 6 squad leads reporting directly to you, setting day-to-day direction and priorities and removing whatever is blocking them /li liManage team delivery capacity and key-person risk, forecasting any shortfalls and making the case for additional squad capacity from internal or external teams /li liMaintain a high standard of engineering across squads - review output, mentor engineers, and lead by example /li /ul h3Governance and stakeholder management /h3 ul liOwn governance practices and collaboration spanning Delivery Directors and Project Managers assigned to client programmes, with effective liaison into Product Management /li liBuild and maintain technical relationships with clients /li liKnow when to escape, and stay proactive in delivery problem-solving /li /ul h3Requirements /h3 pYou have done this before - here's what we're looking for. /p h3Required /h3 ul liDelivery accountability for a portfolio of concurrent large-scale programmes, ideally in OTT/streaming, media technology, a product organisation, or a strong technical consultancy /li liDemonstrable experience leading through other technical and delivery leaders, and developing them /li liSolution architecture experience across a mix of digital platforms /li liSenior client-facing credibility, able to manage fixed-date escalations and negotiate scope while maintaining trusted relationships /li liCommitment to managing commercial consequences - negotiating and planning for margin, penalty exposure, fixed-price versus TM, and supplier mix /li liTrack record of working alongside a technical-authority peer while keeping boundaries intact /li liAgile delivery in practice, adapted to fixed-date commitments rather than argued with /li liDocumentation and decision discipline - auditable records of decisions and the reasoning behind them /li liMulti-tenant platform or productised-services experience, working with a shared codebase /li liExperience building a delivery function through significant scale-up, including hiring and onboarding at volume /li liDistributed and offshore delivery experience across regions and time zones /li liFamiliarity with multiple delivery methodologies, with the judgement to choose the right pattern for the job at hand /li liBackground in OTT, VOD, live broadcast, or media technology /li /ul h3Who Thrives Here /h3 pThis role carries accountability at the portfolio level, not the project level - you're moving between a squad's blockers, a client escalation, and a margin conversation in the same day, and each needs your full attention and judgement. It suits someone who stays technically credible without staying purely hands-on, and who can hold a boundary with a technical-authority peer without it becoming a turf war. /p pPeople who do well here treat documentation and decision discipline as protection for the whole programme, not overhead, and they know the difference between a problem to solve quietly and one that needs to be escalated now. You'll need the client-facing weight to negotiate scope under pressure and the internal credibility to lead delivery leaders who don't report to you directly. /p h3Process and what to expect /h3 pSalary starts from €30K at entry level rising to €90K for those with significant relevant experience.
