Introduction

Our client is a growing, internationally focused crop protection organisation that is strengthening its regulatory capabilities across Europe as part of a wider strategic expansion. With continued investment in its product portfolio and an increasing level of regulatory activity across multiple markets, the business is creating a new Country Regulatory Manager position to support key Southern European regions.

This role will take ownership of regulatory activities across Italy, Greece, and Malta, ensuring the successful registration, maintenance, and defence of plant protection products in line with both national and European requirements. Working at the interface between central regulatory strategy and country-level execution, this position offers a high level of visibility and direct impact on market access and portfolio performance.

This role is being created as a direct result of sustained growth and increasing regulatory demand within the region. The company has continued to expand its European footprint while many competitors have reduced activity, leading to a need for more structured, country-level ownership. As a result, the role offers a level of responsibility and autonomy that would typically only exist in more senior or mature organisational structures, allowing the successful candidate to shape how regulatory strategy is implemented locally.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement country regulatory strategies for Italy, Greece, and Malta aligned with wider business objectives
• Manage the registration, maintenance, renewal, amendment, and defence of plant protection product registrations
• Coordinate regulatory submissions and ensure compliance with national regulatory requirements and timelines
• Support new product introductions and portfolio expansion activities across the assigned countries
• Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on existing and future registrations
• Ensure timely responses to authority requests, data calls, and deficiency letters
• Maintain accurate records of regulatory approvals, timelines, and product lifecycle activities
• Support preparation and adaptation of registration dossiers for local market requirements
• Review and approve product labels to ensure full regulatory compliance
• Work closely with Active Substance Managers to align active substance strategy with country needs
• Act as the primary regulatory contact with national competent authorities and stakeholders
• Provide regulatory guidance to commercial, technical, and supply chain teams
• Manage external consultants, CROs, and regulatory service providers
• Support planning and coordination of regulatory studies where required
• Contribute to continuous improvement of regulatory processes and systems

Key Requirements

• Degree in Agronomy, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Sciences, Toxicology, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in regulatory affairs within the crop protection sector
• Strong experience managing plant protection product registrations within Italy
• Experience supporting registrations in Greece and/or Malta is advantageous
• Good understanding of Regulation (EC) 1107/2009 and European regulatory frameworks
• Experience managing registration dossiers and lifecycle processes
• Experience interacting directly with national regulatory authorities
• Knowledge of zonal procedures and mutual recognition processes
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Commercial awareness and ability to align regulatory activities with business objectives
• Fluent Italian and English; additional languages are an advantage
