With strong foundations in the UK and the US, MRS-GM is expanding its footprint across key European markets. /p pAs part of this growth, we are seeking a Country Claims Manager, Italy to establish and lead our Claims capability in the Italian market. /p pThis is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in building a best‑in‑class Claims function supporting the growth of our Specialty business across Property, Construction Engineering, and future lines of business. Working closely with the Country MD, Underwriting leadership and international stakeholders, you will drive claims excellence, contribute to business strategy, and help shape our long‑term success in Italy. /p pThis role will suit a commercially minded and technically strong claims leader who enjoys working in an entrepreneurial environment, building capabilities, influencing strategy, and delivering outstanding outcomes for clients, brokers, partners, and insureds. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 h3Claims Leadership Technical Excellence /h3 ul liManage and oversee a portfolio of claims across Property, Construction Engineering and other specialty lines as the portfolio evolves. /li liProvide technical expertise across coverage analysis, liability assessment, policy interpretation, reserving, quantum evaluation, and recovery opportunities. /li liLead major loss, catastrophe, and complex claims strategies, negotiations, and resolutions. /li liAppoint and manage external experts including loss adjusters, engineers, forensic accountants, surveyors, and legal counsel. /li liEnsure claims are handled proactively, fairly, efficiently, and in line with regulatory requirements and best practice. /li liOversee delegated claims arrangements, including MGA and TPA relationships. /li /ul h3Business Partnership Market Engagement /h3 ul liAct as a strategic partner to the Country MD, Underwriting, Distribution, Finance, and other key stakeholders. /li liProvide claims insights to support underwriting strategy, portfolio management, risk selection, and policy wording enhancements. /li liContribute to the development and execution of the Italian business plan. /li liBuild strong relationships with brokers, clients, partners, risk managers, and market stakeholders. /li liRepresent Munich Re Specialty externally in the Italian market and internally across the wider organization. /li /ul h3Claims Capability Operational Development /h3 ul liSupport the design and implementation of claims processes, systems, controls, and tools as the business continues to grow. /li liDevelop scalable and resilient claims capabilities across multiple lines of business. /li liDrive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives. /li liSupport the ongoing development of claims governance and reporting frameworks. /li /ul h3Governance, Compliance Risk Management /h3 ul liEnsure claims operations comply with all relevant Italian and European regulatory requirements. /li liMaintain robust claims governance, quality assurance, delegated authority controls, and file management standards. /li liParticipate in audits, regulatory reviews, and internal control activities. /li liIdentify operational, conduct, and systemic risks and support remediation efforts. /li liAct as an escalation point for complex and sensitive claims matters. /li /ul h3Leadership Team Development /h3 ul liProvide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to claims professionals. /li liFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. /li liSupport recruitment, succession planning, and capability development within the Italian Claims team. /li liChampion technical excellence and professional development. /li /ul h3Knowledge And Skills /h3 ul li12+ years' experience in commercial insurance claims and/or relevant legal practice. /li liProven leadership experience within Claims management. /li liSignificant experience handling Property and Construction Engineering claims. /li liStrong expertise in complex, high-value, and cross-border claims. /li liStrong understanding of Italian insurance regulation and claims practices. /li liExperience managing delegated claims authority frameworks. /li liDemonstrated ability to engage effectively with brokers, clients, reinsurers, legal advisers, regulators, and other stakeholders. /li liCommercial mindset with a strong understanding of underwriting and portfolio management dynamics. /li liExcellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. /li liStrong relationship management and stakeholder engagement capabilities. /li liFluent Italian and English. /li liAdditional European language skills would be advantageous. /li /ul h3Why Join Us? /h3 pThis is an opportunity to join Munich Re Specialty at an exciting stage of growth and play a key role in building and leading our Claims presence in Italy. /p pYou will have the opportunity to shape strategy, influence business outcomes, work alongside experienced specialty insurance professionals, and contribute to the success of a growing international platform. /p pIf you are motivated by the opportunity to build, lead, and make a lasting impact, we would be delighted to hear from you. /p h3Diversity, Equity Inclusion /h3 pAt Munich Re, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion foster innovation and resilience and enable us to act braver and better.
