Experteer Overview
In this role you lead CMRE's Engineering and Information Technology Division, steering engineering and IT to deliver cutting‑edge maritime S&T solutions. You align divisional strategy with NATO policies, oversee complex projects, and drive modernization across technical domains. You will shape a service‑oriented culture, manage budgets and resources, and ensure high‑quality delivery for cross‑divisional initiatives. This is a mission‑driven position at a world‑class NATO research facility with broad impact on defence capabilities.Benefits

- Participate in decision boards to prioritise activities and allocate resources
- Define and monitor division strategy, planning and budget with cost discipline
- Identify and introduce new technologies with measurable performance and value
- Oversee technical requirement evaluations ensuring feasibility, schedules and risks are captured
- Lead and develop the division's engineering and IT workforce and promote a service‑oriented culture
- Supervise engineering and IT projects across systems, software, services and data solutions
- Ensure operational capability balance across domains and direct Engineering and IT Coordinators
- Define and oversee the CMRE IT strategy for reliable, secure, scalable services
- Support transition of scientific outputs into operational, data‑centric services
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality policies and regulations
- Advise Directorate and senior divisions on engineering and IT matters
- Lead modernization initiatives within the division
- Contribute to CMRE leadership and governance as Senior Leadership Team member
- Oversee organisational structure, recruitment and succession planning
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Directorate
- Proven track record leading large‑scale transformations and service‑centric operating models
- Experience in multi‑disciplinary teams and managing complex project deliveries
- Master’s degree in engineering or related science with 10 years senior‑level tech/defence experience
- Proficiency in one NATO language (English required) and some knowledge of another
- Willingness to travel and work onboard vessels as needed
- Fit for sea certificate (IMO/ILO standards)
