Job Purpose

• The selected candidate will support the development of next-generation off-road vehicles, contributing to engineering decisions from the earliest concept development phases through final product validation.
• The Vehicle Performance & Fluid Power Engineer is responsible for defining, evaluating and optimizing vehicle-level performance through engineering analysis, virtual simulations, system modeling and experimental correlation activities, working across powertrain, driveline, hydraulic, electrified and vehicle systems.
• The candidate will be requested to perform early-phase concept simulations, enabling architecture trade-off studies and virtual assessment of emerging technologies before hardware is available, within complex multidisciplinary projects coordinated across global engineering organizations.
• The selected candidate will contribute to the evaluation of innovative solutions including advanced fluid power systems, hybrid powertrains, vehicle electrification and alternative fuel technologies, supporting the transition toward more sustainable and efficient off-road machines.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Performance Engineering

• Analyze and optimize vehicle productivity, fuel efficiency, energy utilization and overall machine performance.
• Support vehicle target setting and requirements definition.
• Perform vehicle-level powerflow and energy balance analyses.
• Assess driveline efficiency, traction capability and operational performance.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking and technology assessments.

Fluid Power Engineering

• Develop and validate hydraulic architectures, subsystems and components.
• Analyze hydraulic efficiency and power losses at component, subsystem and vehicle level.
• Optimize system performance considering control strategies, energy consumption and customer usage profiles.
• Support definition of innovative fluid power solutions for future vehicle platforms.

Hybridization, Electrification & Alternative Fuels

• Support feasibility studies and system integration activities for hybrid and electrified vehicle architectures.
• Evaluate power management strategies between conventional and electrified subsystems.
• Assess energy flows, battery utilization and overall system efficiency.
• Analyze the impact of alternative fuels (HVO, Biodiesel, LNG, CNG, Hydrogen and future low-carbon solutions) on vehicle performance and efficiency.
• Support technology roadmaps and concept selection activities for sustainable vehicle development.

Early Phase Concept Development & Virtual Engineering

• Perform early-phase concept simulations to support architecture decisions before prototype availability.
• Conduct trade-off analyses between competing concepts and technologies.
• Develop virtual assessment methodologies for vehicle performance, fuel economy, productivity and hydraulic efficiency.
• Support shift-left engineering initiatives through model-based development approaches.
• Generate data-driven recommendations to accelerate development and reduce program risk.

Simulation & System Modeling

• Develop and maintain high-fidelity and reduced-order simulation models.
• Execute virtual validation activities at component, subsystem and full vehicle level.
• Correlate simulation outputs with experimental measurements.
• Support model-based engineering processes throughout the product development cycle.
• Utilize simulation environments such as AMESim, MATLAB/Simulink and other engineering analysis tools.

Project Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead technical workstreams within complex multidisciplinary projects.
• Coordinate activities among global engineering teams and multiple stakeholders.
• Drive technical alignment and decision-making processes.
• Present simulation results, technical recommendations and project updates to management and engineering leadership.
• Support project planning, risk identification and mitigation activities.
• Interface with suppliers, research partners and external engineering organizations when required.

Experience Required

HARD SKILLS

• Master's degree in mechanical, automotive, energy or aerospace engineering, or equivalent
• Professional industry experience in off-road, agriculture, construction, automotive or commercial vehicles industry - years of experience: 3-5
• Knowledge of vehicle performance, powertrain, driveline and energy management principles
• Knowledge of fluid power systems: hydraulic architectures, subsystems, components, efficiency and power losses
• Knowledge of hybrid and electrified off-road vehicle architectures, vehicle energy management and alternative fuel technologies (HVO, Biodiesel, LNG, CNG, Hydrogen)
• Knowledge of simulation environments such as AMESim, MATLAB/Simulink and other engineering analysis tools
• Systems Engineering approach; Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) exposure would be an advantage
• Advanced optimization techniques and Design of Experiments (DoE), data analytics and visualization tools
• Digital engineering and virtual validation methodologies; Artificial Intelligence applications for engineering workflows (preferred)

• Ability to translate complex technical information into actionable recommendations that drive business and product decisions
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present simulation results and technical recommendations to management and engineering leadership
• Ability to coordinate activities among global engineering teams and multiple stakeholders (product engineering, controls, validation, manufacturing, program management, suppliers and technical partners)
• Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a global multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to deadlines, milestones and set timelines
• Availability to Domestic and International travel.

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is EUR €39,000.00 - plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.) For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
