Overview

In this role, you join EFSA as a contracted expert to support preparatory work for scientific outputs in food safety risk assessment. You will contribute across multiple domains, from animal health to nutritional aspects, performing tasks such as data handling, literature analysis, and methodological input. You will work with EFSA staff and external experts to inform risk assessments and risk communication. This opportunity offers impact through shaping evidence-based outputs for EU risk managers and the public, with a focus on cross-disciplinary collaboration and data-driven analysis.

Responsabilità

• Preliminary completeness checks of dossiers following EFSA guidance
• Literature analysis, data extraction, and data quality tasks to support risk assessment
• Support for data collection from EU Member States and stakeholders during annual cycles
• Prepare summaries of data and formulate key findings for risk assessments
• Contribute to drafts of specific risk assessment components
• Peer review of EFSA outputs at different risk assessment stages
• Assist in preparing public/targeted consultations and related technical outputs
• Provide expert input during webinars, Q&As, and communications activities
• Offer expert opinions on tenders/proposals within field of expertise
• Develop training materials and deliver training in scientific topics under EFSA remit
• Provide ad-hoc expert scientific advice across phases of scientific opinions/assessments
• Ensure independence and manage conflicts of interest per EFSA policies

Requisiti fondamentali

• EU/EFTA/candidate country citizenship or acceptable third-country eligibility
• Education corresponding to university studies of at least 3 years in a relevant field
• At least 3 years of professional experience in a relevant field after degree
• Proven ability to contribute to risk assessment reports and/or peer-reviewed publications in the last 5 years
• Excellent written and spoken English with demonstrated evidence (reports/publications or CEFR B2 or equivalent)
• Ability to communicate clearly in English in professional settings
• Availability for remote work with potential on-site assignments as defined in contracts
