Only individuals who meet the minimum Civil Service qualifications should apply for this position. /p h3Distinguishing Features of the Class: /h3 pThis position is responsible for providing computer-related support including installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of personal computers, peripherals, and applications software. Incumbents provide training on basic computer usage and applications software to the internal staff. While maintaining core IT systems, the primary operational focus of this specific role is the deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of advanced audio/visual (AV) systems, auditorium multimedia, and integrated technologies. A Technical Support Specialist does related work as required. /p h3Core Focus Summary: /h3 pThe successful candidate will work directly with customers to identify operational and maintenance needs, evaluate technical requirements, and develop practical, cost-effective installation solutions. Responsibilities include troubleshooting existing systems, recommending upgrades or improvements, coordinating implementations, and providing customer education and training to ensure effective and efficient use of installed technologies. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate customer requirements into viable technical solutions are essential. /p h3Typical Work Activities: /h3 ul liTroubleshoot technical problems; notifies appropriate technology staff of software failures and provides computer diagnostics. /li liProvides technical advice and assistance to users concerning data communication equipment and data transmission. /li liInstalls, configures, and maintains desktop, laptop, tablet and PDA computer hardware and peripheral equipment. /li liDiscusses software applications with users to determine level of satisfaction and/or the need to modify software. /li liInstalls application software on the networks and maintains network documentation. /li liAssists in the administration of a local area network for state and local personal computer networks. /li liMaintains an inventory of computer supplies such as toner, ribbons, printer cartridges, etc. /li liDistributes data processing output to users. /li liMay train administrative, support and clerical staff in basic computer usage and office applications software. /li liMay update manuals and files on system operating procedures. /li liMay develop reports through the State Legacy System. /li /ul h3Core Focus Work Activities: /h3 ul liDMX lighting control systems and theatrical/auditorium lighting infrastructure. /li liCrestron control systems and integrated room automation technologies. /li liSound reinforcement and public address (PA) systems. /li liVideo display technologies, including projectors, LED displays, digital signage, and associated distribution platforms. /li liSystem integration, commissioning, and end-user training. /li /ul h3Full Performance Knowledges, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics /h3 pThorough knowledge of the operation and use of personal computers and their peripheral equipment; good knowledge of logical operation of computers and data communication devices; working knowledge of networking computers; working knowledge of data processing methodology and techniques in creating documentation and data security; knowledge of Windows operating systems; ability to simplify technical terminology for training purposes; ability to identify and resolve user problems; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to plan, organize and prioritize work assignments; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; initiative; tact; patience; sound judgement; flexibility; physical condition sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position. /p h3Core Focus Performance Knowledges, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics: /h3 pThe successful candidate will work directly with customers to identify operational and maintenance needs, evaluate technical requirements, and develop practical, cost-effective installation solutions. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate customer requirements into viable solutions are essential. /p h3Salary: /h3 p$52,223 per year /p h3Minimum Qualifications: /h3 pGraduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and either:br/A) Possessionof at least and Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology, or closely related field.br/ORbr/B) Completion of a one (1) year certificate program in Computer Science or electronics and one (1) year experience in the installation, operation, maintenance and/or diagnostics of a data communication network or electronic equipment.br/ORbr/C) Two (2) years' experience in the installation. operation, maintenance and/or diagnostics of a data communication network or electronic equipment. /p pNOTE: Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
