Earth Observation Data Service Manager

In this role you will oversee the provisioning and evolution of on-demand Copernicus data services and progressively take on management of additional EO data services. You will ensure service continuity, interface effectively with Copernicus services, and drive scalable, secure data delivery through modern ICT architectures. The position sits within ESA’s Common Services Section and contributes to EO data lifecycle management and end-to-end data provisioning. You will work with cross-functional teams to translate user needs into robust, cost-effective services and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.Retribuzione / Benefits

• Support industrial service management to ensure continuity, robustness, and performance levels
• Maintain interfaces with Copernicus services and feed user feedback into the provisioning chain
• Monitor data volume consumption and assist users in line with programmatic objectives
• Coordinate investigations and implement mitigations for operational anomalies
• Evaluate and implement scalable technological solutions for on-demand EO data provisioning
• Improve interoperability and efficiency across the end-to-end data provisioning chain
• Define service requirements by collecting user needs from stakeholders
• Plan and manage evolution of services, including procurement actions and cost coherence
• Manage service implementation, transfer to operations, SLAs, and risk management
• Produce regular technical, operational, and financial reports and maintain documentation
• Contribute to the evolution of the Earth Observation Framework
• Support the Head of the Common Services Section in other tasks as required
• Participate in audits and cross-project support
• Align with ESA security framework and policies
• Adapt to evolving EO landscape and architecture needs

• Master in Engineering subject
• 4 years of relevant professional experience
• PMP/ITIL certification is an asset
• Experience designing architectures based on scalable ICT cloud-based solutions
• Experience in EO data services and large-scale data infrastructures
• Solid software engineering background and data analysis tools
• Knowledge of SecDevOps and EO data lifecycle
• Understanding of EU Copernicus Programme and CCMs
• Ability to work autonomously in an international team
• Strong stakeholder management and reporting capabilities
