The bEIB /b, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Finance Directorate (FI), Planning and Settlement of Operations Department (PRO), Transaction Processing Borrowing and Treasury Division (TPBT), Money and Securities Markets Unit (MSM) at its headquarters in Luxembourg, an Associate Transaction Processing Digital Transformation Officer*. /p pbThis is a full-time position at grade 4 for which the EIB offers a permanent contract. /b /p ul liinternal benchmark Associate Officer Transaction Processing Management /li /ul pPanel interviews are anticipated for November/December. /p h3Purpose /h3 pYou will contribute to the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions, ensuring the Bank meets its commitments while effectively managing operational and settlement risks in a high-volume, high-criticality environment, while supporting in parallel the transformation of the back office by leveraging data, automation, AI and emerging technologies such as Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), contributing to more efficient, resilient and future-proof financial operations processes. /p h3Operating Network /h3 pThe Division is composed of two teams (the Borrowings and Derivatives Market Unit – BDM – and the Money and Securities Market Unit – MSM), operating as a pool of competencies combining operational expertise with emerging data and technology capabilities. /p pYou will report to the Head of Unit, and autonomously execute key processes of various complexities, ensuring the overall quality of the unit’s output and compliance with the Bank’s policies and processes. This involves high volumes, tight deadlines and significant operational risk exposure in a financial operations processing environment. /p pThe current context involves an accelerating transformation of back-office activities through the adoption of automation, AI/ML, RPA and DLT-based settlement models, requiring closer integration between operations, data and technology. There is also an increasing focus on data quality, process standardisation and straight-through processing to enhance efficiency and resilience. /p pThis role involves close interaction with Front Office, Risk, Legal, IT and Data functions, as well as involvement in cross-functional innovation and transformation initiatives. /p pYou will bring a data-driven and technology-oriented perspective to traditional operational activities as the role combines solid financial markets transactional expertise with a growing focus on data analysis, innovation and technology adoption. It is designed as a profile combining financial operations with data and analytical capabilities, contributing to the evolution of the back office towards a more automated, intelligent and scalable operating model. /p h3Accountabilities /h3 pbTransaction Processing Controls (Core Back Office) /b /p ul liExecute end-to-end processing of Borrowings, Treasury and Derivatives transactions. /li liEnsure timely confirmations, settlements and lifecycle event management. /li liPerform controls to reduce operational, financial and reputational risk. /li liMonitor and resolve breaks, settlement failures or discrepancies in a timely manner. /li liContribute to the continuous improvement of control frameworks, particularly in increasingly automated environments. /li /ul pbData Analysis Process Improvement /b /p ul liAnalyse operational data (breaks, volumes, settlement performance) to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities. /li liApply analytical techniques (trend analysis, pattern recognition, basic statistical methods) to support decision-making. /li liDevelop and maintain dashboards, reports and KPIs to monitor performance and operational risk. /li liIncrease straight-through processing (STP) and reduce manual intervention through data-driven insights. /li /ul pbAutomation, AI RPA /b /p ul liContribute to the identification, design and implementation of automation initiatives (e.g. reconciliation, matching, workflow optimisation). /li liExplore and prototype data‑driven and AI solutions (e.g. anomaly detection, document processing, decision support tools). /li liValidate and challenge outputs of automated and AI solutions from a business, risk and control perspective. /li liContribute to the prioritisation of use cases for automation and AI deployment in transaction processing and settlement activities /li /ul pbEmerging Technologies DLT /b /p ul liContribute to the analysis and implementation of DLT-based settlement and post‑trade solutions. /li liSupport integration of new settlement models (e.g. tokenised assets, atomic settlement concepts) into existing processes /li liAssess operational impacts of DLT and evolving market infrastructures. /li liMonitor developments in post‑trade innovation and assess their relevance for the Bank’s operational model. /li liAct as a point of contact between operations and innovation initiatives in this space. /li /ul pbBusiness Analysis Requirements /b /p ul liTranslate operational and regulatory needs into clear, structured business requirements. /li liContribute to process mapping, documentation and optimisation initiatives. /li liSupport implementation of new tools, digital workflows and system upgrades. /li /ul pbRisk Management Problem Solving /b /p ul liAnalyse and h3Qualifications /h3 ul liUniversity degree (minimum an equivalent to a Bachelor) preferably in Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science or equivalent. /li liAdditional relevant postgraduate studies or professional qualification would be considered as an advantage. /li liMinimum 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in Treasury/Derivatives, preferably in Middle or Back Office of Financial Institution, or equivalent. /li liGood understanding of financial products (bonds, derivatives, repos, etc.). /li liGood knowledge of SWIFT messaging and settlement processes. /li liStrong analytical mindset and ability to work with operational and/or financial datasets. /li liExposure to automation tools, workflow engines or process optimisation techniques. /li liExposure to AI or data science use cases (e.g. anomaly detection, classification, document processing, basic predictive analytics), through academic or professional experience. /li liUnderstanding of distributed ledger/blockchain concepts and their potential application in post‑trade and settlement environments. /li liHands‑on experience (academic or professional) with data analysis or programming tools such as Python, SQL or equivalent, and data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI or similar) will be an advantage. /li liKnowledge and/or experience of/in project management would be considered an advantage. /li liExcellent knowledge of English and/or French (***) with a good command of the other.
