Baccarat has been synonymous with craftsmanship, artistry and timeless elegance for more than 260 years. As Baccarat prepares to unveil its first hotel in Europe, we are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead one of the most anticipated luxury hotel openings in Rome.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the manager will provide operational leadership across all engineering, maintenance, building systems and asset management functions throughout both the pre-opening and operational phases of the hotel.
During pre-opening, you will assist to establish the engineering department from the ground up—developing systems, recruiting and mentoring your team, commissioning building services, managing defects and contractor relationships, implementing preventative maintenance programmes and ensuring every aspect of the hotel is ready for opening day.
Once operational, you will continue to supervise the department, protecting one of Rome’s most prestigious luxury assets while delivering an environment that is safe, efficient, sustainable and flawlessly maintained.
What You Will Do
- Assist with the development of departmental operating standards, policies, procedures and preventative maintenance programmes.
- Coordinate building commissioning, systems testing and hotel readiness activities.
- Oversee snagging, defect management and warranty processes.
- Implement the hotel’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Ensure full compliance with Italian statutory requirements, fire and life safety regulations and luxury brand standards.
- Partner closely with operational departments to support a seamless hotel opening.
- Supervise the day-to-day operation of the Engineering Department.
- Deliver preventative and reactive maintenance programmes that minimise downtime while protecting the guest experience.
- Drive continuous improvements in asset reliability, operational efficiency and sustainability.
- Respond calmly and effectively to operational incidents and emergencies.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, craftsmanship and continuous improvement throughout the department.

What You’ll Bring
- Leadership experience within luxury hotels, resorts or iconic hospitality assets.
- Previous pre-opening experience is highly desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire and life safety systems.
- Understanding of Italian building compliance, health and safety legislation and statutory requirements.
- Experience working with preventative maintenance strategies and CMMS platforms.
- Proven ability to supervise multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing operational and capital budgets.
- Exceptional project management and contractor management skills.
- Calm, decisive leadership during operational challenges and emergencies.
- A commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency and responsible asset management.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in Italian. English proficiency is highly desirable.
