Overview
Job Summary:
Celanese is seeking an accomplished EMEA Trade Compliance Specialist to drive operational and strategic trade initiatives across the region. Based in Budapest, this role will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers to align compliance with business objectives. The ideal candidate will leverage expertise in EU, UK and CH customs regulations and oversee customs operations in diverse EMEA jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
YOU will be involved in the following tasks:
- Collaborate in a team of subject matter experts, ensuring compliance with all relevant rules and regulations, including Union Customs Code (UCC), tariff classification, customs valuation, and origin determination.
- Interface with internal stakeholders (e.g., supply chain, procurement, legal, finance) to align trade strategies with business goals, providing actionable insights and recommendations for operational execution.
- Assess and mitigate trade risks using available tools and stakeholder input.
- Monitor customs and trade policy developments and advise stakeholders on their strategic impact on Celanese’s operations.
- Support cross-border trade initiatives by collaborating with regional teams and leveraging FTA benefits.
- Utilize SAP GTS to manage relevant trade processes.
- Facilitate and manage external audits by competent authorities, specifically customs authorities in Germany, UK, Belgium and Italy.
Qualifications
What YOU will bring to the team:
- Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Law, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in EU trade compliance, customs compliance / operations or similar.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with internal stakeholders (e.g., supply chain, legal, finance) to manage operational challenges and drive trade-related outcomes.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
- Advanced MS office skills.
- Experience with SAP-GTS is a plus.
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional EU languages (e.g., German, French) is a plus.
