Beschreibung der Forschungstätigkeit:
Die Forschungsaktivitäten gliedern sich in zwei Hauptlinien. Erstens werden in Bergregionen verfügbare lignozellulosische Biomassen (land- und forstwirtschaftliche Reststoffe) identifiziert und umfassend charakterisiert, indem repräsentative Proben gemeinsam mit den Partnern ausgewählt und physikalisch-chemische Analysen (Zusammensetzung, CHNS und TGA) zur Bewertung der Eignung für die Verwertung durchgeführt werden. Zweitens liegt der Fokus im Sinne einer integrierten Biomasseverwertung auf der im Schwarzlauge (black liquor) gelösten Ligninfraktion: Es werden kontinuierliche thermochemische Prozesse der hydrothermalen Verflüssigung (HTL) entwickelt und validiert. Rheologie und thermische Stabilität des Einsatzstoffs werden (DSC/TGA) untersucht, Betriebsbedingungen optimiert und Produktströme (Biocrude, wässrige Phase, Char und Gas) mittels CHNS, TGA und GC‑MS analysiert, bis hin zu übertragbaren Leitlinien für den Technologietransfer.
