Senior Software Engineer – Permanent & Full Time

Remote in Italy

I’m working with an exciting international technology company that is expanding its engineering team in Ticino and looking for a Senior Software Engineer.

This is a strong opportunity for an engineer who enjoys distributed systems, architecture, and technical leadership.

What you’ll be doing

• Lead the design and evolution of large-scale distributed systems
• Drive architecture decisions around scalability, performance, and maintainability
• Own cross-team technical initiatives and influence engineering direction
• Mentor engineers and raise standards around design, code quality, and operational excellence
• Drive best practices across software design, testing, and observability
• Take ownership of critical features and services from concept through production

What you bring

• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or extensive equivalent professional experience
• Extensive experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems, strong software engineering background
• Strong experience with Golang, C++ or Ruby
• Strong knowledge of system design, algorithms and data structures
• Experience with modern backend architectures, APIs and service-oriented systems
• Strong automated testing experience, including TDD, BDD and integration testing
• JavaScript/TypeScript and React experience is a plus
• Fluent English; Italian is a plus

This role can be offered on a fully remote basis from Italy, so previous experience working successfully in a remote environment is required.
