The role involves further developing our process models, working in close collaboration with the automation team, and supporting the engineering and commissioning phases of new steel production plants. We are seeking for people with strong background in physics and automation, a strong focus on innovation, and the motivation to continuously develop their skills and potential. /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliData analysis: banalyzing and optimizing the process parameters /b, ensuring the full and effective operation of Level 1 and Level 2 automation systems; /liliModeling: using and further develop bprocess simulations and mathematical models /b, meant for on-line control systems, as well as off-line calculations for sizing plants during the Sales stage; /liliProcess guidelines: prepare and review bprocess descriptions /b and required documentation to support the design stage of mechanical, electrical and automation departments, including bprocess control logics /b, bmodels /b and boperating guidelines /b; /liliCommissioning site: act as the key interface between bProcess Engineering /b andb Level 1 / Level 2 /b automation teams during cold tests, hot commissioning, trial rolling, and ramp‑up phases; define bprocess rules /b to be implemented in the automation system, troubleshoot process-related issues identifying root causes in relation to process, automation logics, or model deviations, and implementing corrective actions jointly with L1/L2 specialists; bmonitor performances /b; /liliPerformance guarantee tests: blead the performance guarantee testing /b, both remotely and on site; coordinate and technically guide the bteam of process and automation specialists /b, ensuring alignment on commissioning priorities, critical process‑automation interfaces, operational safety, and performance targets; /liliPost-commissioning tasks: collect and analyzeb operational data from running plants /b, validate and reconcileb process and automation parameters /b, and keep track of blessons learnt /b; /liliRD: Benchmark alternative technologies based on boperational and automation performances /b, identifying improvements and developments in process control, model‑based automation; propose patents to protect Danieli proprietary solutions. /li /ulh3Technical Requirements /h3ulliDegree in engineering/technical field (e.g. metallurgy, materials, mechanics); /liliAt least 5 years of experience in the steel industry; /liliAt least 3 years of experience in steel processing studies, process simulation and project development; /liliKnowledge of the main mechanical processes; /liliExcellent knowledge of English; /liliExcellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel; /liliProficient in working with databases; /liliProficient with C, C++, Python, or other programming language used to develop models; /liliExperience with FEM (Abaqus) is desirable. /li /ulh3Soft Skills /h3ulliVersatility and results-oriented; /liliOrganization and coordination skills; /liliAvailability for international business trips and long staying at commissioning sites; /liliPassion for making steel and for giving life and optimization of steel making plants. /li /ulh3Other /h3pOver the course of its long history Danieli Wean United has developed a thorough knowledge together with a well-earned experience in the downstream processing of the hot/cold rolled steel and strip processing lines. /ppWe value diversity and are committed to fostering an inclusive work environment where everyone can fully express their potential.
