Epidemiologist
We are seeking a highly experienced Epidemiologist proficient in SAS and R to help lead and support our research team in the Public Health Sciences Department within the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health. The role involves contributing to high-level research, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant applications, while fostering collaboration with a multidisciplinary research team and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and research team to design and conduct epidemiological studies; perform statistical analyses using advanced methods; ensure accurate data management.
- Assist in preparation of NIH grant proposals and progress reports.
- Collaborate on writing, reviewing, and editing manuscripts for publication; assist in preparing presentations for conferences.
- Work closely with PI and multidisciplinary team members to achieve research objectives; provide support and mentorship to junior researchers and graduate students.
- Manage and lead analysis of complex datasets (including survey design and ecological data) using SAS and R; oversee data management processes; identify, analyze, and interpret trends to generate actionable insights.
Minimum Education and Work Experience
- PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in biostatistics and/or epidemiology.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in SAS and R; experience with STATA or SPSS is a plus.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) data analysis is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Aptitude for manuscript and grant writing.
- Exceptional problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and collaborate in a diverse team.
- Experience mentoring junior researchers and students.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects and compile comprehensive reports and presentations.
Computer Skills
- Advanced proficiency in SAS, R, STATA, and/or SPSS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Familiarity with data management tools and applications.
Additional Information
Location: Maywood‑Health Sciences Campus. Work Modality: Hybrid – 3 in‑person. Salary: $80,000–$90,000 annually. This position is exempt.
