Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer (f/m/div)
Experteer Italy
In this Electrical Failure Analysis Engineer role within Infineon’s Quality & Excellence team, you will investigate customer returns for automotive MCUs, reproduce reported failures, and drive root‑cause analyses. You’ll work closely with cross‑functional teams to define failure origins and guide corrective actions that improve reliability and performance. The position focuses on electrical measurements and test‑based investigations, translating findings into continuous improvement. You will build a specialized focus area (e.g., NVM, SRAM, or high‑speed interfaces) and mentor others as you grow. This is an on‑site, hands‑on opportunity to impact product quality at scale in the Padova team.Key Responsibilities
- Analyze customer failure descriptions and reproduce failures at device or application level
- Define failure origin and plan further analysis using a test bench
- Develop and adapt measurement‑based tests to reproduce failures on evaluation boards
- Set up specialized measurement setups using oscilloscope and debugger; may involve debugging customer code
- Prepare analysis reports and provide ongoing updates to support customer complaint handling
- Create defect‑localization test cases and suggest test program improvements
- Develop a technical focus area (e.g., NVM, SRAM, mixed‑signal, HS‑interfaces, test‑programs)
Note: Electrical failure analysis; not physical failure analysis.
Qualifications- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or equivalent field of study
- Experience in electrical failure analysis or similar field preferred; motivated juniors welcome
- Understanding of electrical measurement methods (DC, oscilloscope, frequency generators)
- Knowledge of software development for microcontroller applications; automotive experience a plus
- Programming skills in C, Perl or Python
- Fluency in English; Italian an advantage
