A Software Engineer must have a thorough understanding of computer systems, in order to recognize any hardware limitations that could impact software design. /p h3bJob duties (Responsibilities and Accountabilities) /b /h3 pThe Software Engineer job description includes: /p ul liImproving system quality by identifying issues and common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures; /li liFollowing the CENELEC prescriptions for safety system development (SIL 4), in particular the process described in the EN standards; /li liEnhancing applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations and designing and implementing systems; /li liMaintaining and improving existing codebases and peer review code changes; /li liLiaising with colleagues to implement technical designs; /li liInvestigating and using new technologies where relevant; /li liWriting reports and giving presentations to managers and colleagues. /li /ul h3bExperience and Qualifications /b /h3 pThe candidate should have consistent and complete professional experience in a similar position acquired in multinational industrial contexts transportation/ railway /signaling, as well as proven experience with high-level programming languages such as C, C++, Java etc. A degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent experience in related fields is essential. /p pAs technology develops at an ever-increasing pace, it is critical for Software Engineers to stay up to date with the latest developments in hardware, systems and coding. /p pAs well as formal qualifications, a Software Engineer profile shall emphasize: /p ul liA passion for solving problems and providing workable solutions; /li liKnowledge of algorithms and data structures; /li liStrong analytical and reasoning skills with an ability to visualize processes and outcomes; /li liProficiency in troubleshooting software issues and debugging a large codebase; /li liOutstanding all-round communication skills and ability to work collaboratively; /li liGood English knowledge is also required (B2). /li /ul h3bWorking with us /b /h3 pOur people are at the heart of what we do at PRS.
