Conservation strategies for six threatened fish species in the Po River network - ongoing LIFE Minnow project activities

ph3Offer Description /h3pThe research appointment aims to continue the activities of the LIFE MINNOW project, dedicated to the conservation of six threatened freshwater fish species from the Piedmont region listed in Annex II of the EU Habitats Directive. The 18-month project extension will enable DBIOS, the project coordinator, to ensure scientific coordination and continuity of research activities. The work will focus on three main research lines: (1) collection and analysis of environmental, ecological, and faunal data to assess the effectiveness of habitat restoration actions, producing scientific publications and management guidelines; (2) management of ex situ breeding activities for selected target species to improve knowledge of their reproductive biology; and (3) investigation of the autoecology of the Po brook lamprey (Lampetra zanandreai) through population genetic analyses and stomach-content metabarcoding to clarify key aspects of its biology that remain poorly understood. /ppMandatory requirement for admission to the selection: italian Laurea Magistrale, or Laurea a Ciclo Unico, or an equivalent degree from foreign Universities, obtained no more than 6 years prior to the application deadline (i.e obtained after 13/10/2020).
