In this role you will advance autonomy for autonomous naval platforms within CMRE’s ANMW team. You will develop and validate state-of-the-art autonomy algorithms for UUVs, USVs and UAVs, tackling naval mine and seabed warfare challenges. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary researchers to prototype systems and contribute to CMRE’s S&T goals. This position offers the chance to influence maritime defence capabilities in an international environment and engage with NATO-scale projects.Retribuzione / Benefits
- Support the ANMW PoW by exploring innovative research ideas in naval mine warfare and drone warfare
- Develop and implement advanced autonomy algorithms and models for unmanned platforms
- Provide rigorous mathematical interpretation and performance assessment of algorithms
- Collaborate with researchers to identify questions, solutions, and experiment designs
- Conduct theoretical and experimental investigations as part of a project team
- Stay current with autonomy and robotics advances and apply relevant methods
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams, contribute to proposals and publications
- Present findings at conferences and internal meetings
- Assist in organizing NATO workshops and conferences; contribute to multi-national project development and external funding proposals
- Strong experience in autonomous navigation, mapping, perception or AI-driven autonomy
- Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related field
- Solid background in robotics and autonomy with a focus on AI applied to autonomy
- Proven research track record with publications
- Scientific programming experience: Linux, MATLAB, Python
- Experience in multi-disciplinary scientific project work
- Experience delivering project outputs to customers
