About the role:

As the Community Awareness and Engagement Officer, you will lead initiatives to increase awareness of headspace Roma’s programs and promote early help-seeking among young people. Your role will focus on designing and delivering community engagement strategies, coordinating health promotion activities and supporting the involvement of young people and families. You’ll build partnerships with local services, schools and community groups to promote the service and promote mental health literacy in general. Your responsibilities will also include:

• Developing and implementing a Community Awareness Strategy (in conjunction with the Centre Manager);
• Planning and coordinating headspace events and campaigns;
• Assisting with the creation of communication materials and content;
• Developing and maintaining relationships with schools, community groups and health services;
• Representing headspace Roma at community events; and
• Supporting the development of an annual calendar of community engagement and health promotion activities.

To be successful in the role, you will bring experience in Health Promotion, Community Development, Public Health or a related field, along with a background of planning, delivering and evaluating community engagement or health promotion initiatives. You will understand the value of giving young people a voice and creating opportunities for them to be heard.

You will demonstrate high levels of communication and relationship-building skills and be confident working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. You will also have excellent organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage priorities and meet deadlines.

• Driver's licence;
• Police check; and
• Valid Working with Children check (Blue Card).
