Bone fragility in adult chronic neuromuscular disease: from preliminary data to the development of a dedicated osteometabolic outpatient pathway

No /ph3Offer Description /h3pAdvances in respiratory, cardiac, and pharmacological management, foremost among them chronic glucocorticoid therapy, have radically transformed the natural history of progressive muscular dystrophies, particularly Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Chronic glucocorticoid exposure, progressive loss of ambulation and mechanical loading, vitamin D deficiency, secondary hypogonadism, and restrictive respiratory insufficiency combine to produce one of the most severe risk profiles for secondary osteoporosis and fragility fracture encountered in endocrine practice. The overall aim of the project is to establish, within the Endocrinology, Diabetology and Metabolic Diseases Unit, a dedicated outpatient pathway for the longitudinal surveillance and management of bone health in adult patients with chronic neuromuscular disease. /ppMandatory requirement for admission to the selection: italian Laurea Magistrale, or Laurea a Ciclo Unico, or an equivalent degree from foreign Universities, obtained no more than 6 years prior to the application deadline (i.e obtained after 13/10/2020).
