The Company This specialist engineering and construction contractor is one of Europe's most active data centre delivery partners, delivering large-scale mission-critical projects across multiple European countries. With a substantial pipeline of hyperscale and colocation developments currently under construction, the business continues to expand its commercial team and is seeking an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor for a major data centre project in Milan, Italy.
The Role: M&E Quantity Surveyor This is a senior commercial role responsible for the financial management of mechanical and electrical packages on a large-scale data centre project. Working closely with the Project Director, Commercial Lead, Project Managers, Engineers, subcontractors, and client representatives, you will take ownership of procurement, cost control, subcontract management, valuations, claims, and final accounts throughout the project lifecycle. The successful M&E Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in protecting project profitability while ensuring accurate commercial reporting and contract administration from procurement through to final account.

The successful M&E Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in protecting project profitability while ensuring accurate commercial reporting and contract administration from procurement through to final account.
Must Have Requirements
- Must have 7+ years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector.
- Experience with a main contractor, general contractor, or M&E contractor is required.
- Proven experience managing mechanical and electrical packages on large-scale construction projects.
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
- Strong commercial, contractual, and financial management experience.
- Experience on data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, mission-critical, or large commercial projects.
- Experience managing multiple subcontract packages simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, valuations, variations, and final account negotiations.
- Experience working on international construction projects.
- Excellent stakeholder and client management skills.
- Data centre project experience.
- Knowledge of FIDIC or international forms of contract.
- Experience working on European projects.
- Exposure to BIM and digital construction platforms.
- Manage mechanical and electrical subcontract procurement from tender enquiry through to subcontract award.
- Prepare and analyse subcontract tender packages and negotiate commercial agreements.
- Manage subcontract packages from placement through to final account settlement.
- Administer monthly valuations, applications for payment, variations, and claims.
- Maintain accurate cost reporting and end-of-project financial forecasting.
- Prepare and submit monthly commercial reports in collaboration with project delivery teams.
- Manage project budgets and cost control processes.
- Attend client, subcontractor, and commercial review meetings.
- Negotiate and agree final accounts with subcontractors and client representatives.
- Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage contractual notices and claims in accordance with contract requirements.
- Measure work packages from drawings and prepare package pricing.
- Maintain accurate records of cost changes, variations, and scope adjustments.
- Support project leadership with commercial advice and reporting.
- Ensure project profitability is maintained throughout delivery.
