ppJob Description: Closer to Space, closer to the Future: join Telespazio – Leonardo Space Division! /ppLeonardo is a leading global industrial group in Aerospace, Defence and Security, delivering advance multi-domain technologies across Helicopters, Aircraft, Aerostructures, Electronics, Cybersecurity, and Space. /ppAs part of the Leonardo Space Division, Telespazio a joint venture between Leonardo (67%) and Thales (33%), is a global reference in the field of satellite solutions and services. /ppWith a workforce of over 3.500 professionals across its offices in Europe and around the world, Telespazio operates an international network of Space Centres and Teleports, offering cutting‑edge solutions in Geoinformation Services, Satellite Systems and Operations, and Satellite Communications. /ppJoin us as we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in Space. /ppWe are looking for a System Operations Engineer to join our Operations Logistics Engineering unit, within the Navigation Exploration domain, for Galileo Second Generation (G2G) program. /ppYou will be embedded at ESA/ESTEC as part of the System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) team to aid ESA in its role as System Design Authority. /ppIn this role you support the Agency in shaping the operational design of the system, in specifying what Industry has to deliver, and in assessing what is provided is operationally consistent and ready for use. /ppG2G introduces a new satellite generation, a renewed ground segment and enhanced services, to be deployed while the first generation remains in full operation. /ppAchieving this transition while ensuring uninterrupted service operation is one of the program’s key engineering challenges. /ph3You will: /h3ulliSupport the definition, consolidation and maintenance of the G2G System and Mission Operations Concept (OpsCon), covering nominal, degraded and contingency scenarios across space and ground segments /liliDerive and consolidate operational and operability requirements, ensuring their traceability into system‑level and segment‑level technical specifications /liliContribute to the G1G to G2G migration and coexistence strategy: transition scenarios, dual constellation operations, service continuity, and backward compatibility constraints /liliAnalyse, characterise and model operational processes and mission timelines /liliDefine the operations organisation: roles, responsibilities, and operational interfaces /liliAssess industrial deliverables against operational requirements: review of contractor documentation, RID generation and disposition, and technical support to ESA‑led milestone reviews /liliPlan and support operational validation campaigns /liliSupport the system through the mission phases up to Operations Readiness Review and operational handover /li /ulpYou will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, in an environment where curiosity and initiative matter as much as technical soundness. /ph3We are looking for: /h3ulliMaster's Degree in Aerospace, Electronic, Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent, with a strong systems orientation /liliExperience in space systems engineering or space operations /liliWorking knowledge of GNSS and of Galileo system architecture /liliAbility to work autonomously and take initiative, combined with intellectual curiosity and a constant drive to question the status quo and bring innovative solutions /liliGood command of English (B2) /liliProficiency with MS Office /liliComfortable with software tools and a hands‑on attitude in getting the most out of them /liliWork location: Fucino Space Centre (L’Aquila, Italy).
