As a Senior Optical Component Engineer, you will lead qualification of optical devices and assembly processes for Cisco’s optical transport and transceiver products. You will collaborate with internal design teams to assess suppliers, technologies and reliability, guiding WLM and transceiver development. Your work spans design reviews, qualification planning, and supplier development to ensure quality and manufacturability from design through end-of-life. This role offers broad influence across products and suppliers, with a focus on advancing next-generation optical technologies within Cisco.Retribuzione / Benefits

• Technical assessment of optical suppliers and next-generation technologies
• Conduct design and process reviews and audits for robustness and manufacturing readiness
• Develop and execute qualification plans and resolve technical issues
• Own quality, reliability and manufacturability of WLM line cards and optical sub-modules
• Partner with global supply management to influence supplier selection and commodity strategy
• Drive failure analysis, containment and corrective actions for business-impacting issues
• Manage and develop suppliers' quality
• Guide qualification of optical transceivers and modules with internal teams

Responsabilità

• MS in Optical Engineering or PhD preferred (minimum MS)
• 8+ years of relevant experience in optics
• Knowledge of WLM and optical transceiver components and sub-assemblies
• Experience with reliability qualification, failure analysis and 8D or equivalent problem solving
• Strong communication, project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Experience working with external suppliers and cross-functional teams
