What we are looking for
We’re looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer to support the deployment of our AI-powered vision systems in industrial environments. This role focuses on the installation, configuration, and debugging of cameras, networking devices, and field hardware at customer sites. You will work closely with our engineering team to ensure reliable system deployment and smooth commissioning, and stable cloud connectivity. You will build and own our deployment and commissioning function, defining the processes and best practices for bringing complete edge AI systems online for industrial customers, from on-site hardware setup to network configuration, system testing, troubleshooting, and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare installation material before customer deployments
- Install and configure edge computers, industrial cameras, networking equipment, and other sensors
- Configure Linux-based edge computers, routers, switches, and local network infrastructure
- Support wiring, cabling, mounting, and hardware setup on-site
- Perform testing, troubleshooting, and debugging during installation
- Support remote and on-site commissioning activities
- Document installation steps, issues, and technical configurations
- Coordinate with software, hardware, and AI teams to solve field issues

Requirements
- Degree or diploma in IT, Computer Science, Automation, Electronics, or related technical field
- Background as IT technician, computer engineer, PLC programmer, or technical diploma holder
- Comfortable working with Linux (Ubuntu), SSH, and command-line tools
- Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, routers, switches, VPNs, and basic firewall configuration
- Comfortable interacting with customer IT teams, electricians, and plant operators during deployments
- Experience or interest in camera installation and configuration
- Hands-on attitude and problem-solving mindse
- Ability to work in industrial environments
- Willingness to travel frequently
- Good English communication skills
Nice to Have
- PLC programming experience
- Experience with industrial networks, VPNs and remote access solutions
- CCTV / surveillance camera installation experience
- CAD or technical drawing knowledge
- Safety certifications / industrial site permits
- Experience with 3D printing
- Residence in Switzerland or Italy
- Italian fluency
