Software Field Technician

Responsibilities
  • Perform software checkout and commissioning for converting roll machines.
  • Maintain and service customer production equipment and systems according to Valmet service procedures and safety processes.
  • Set up machinery and provide prompt assistance to solve technical issues during the testing phase, and related to processes, machinery or tools at customer sites or remotely.
  • Carry out process checks and quality control to improve product quality and propose improvement solutions to the customer.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on customer installations to ensure and optimise equipment performance.
  • Proactively evaluate and suggest spare parts or improvements to the customer for equipment updates.
  • Carry out training at the customer’s site or in-house.
  • Collaborate with the technical department for programming software and improving technical solutions.
  • Ensure the achievement of predefined objectives, guaranteeing customer satisfaction within the agreed timeline.
  • Qualifications
    • Technical school diploma or degree in Electronic, Software, Automation, Informatics or similar fields.
    • 2–3 years of experience as a Software Technician in the manufacturing industry;
      experience in the converting industry is a plus.
    • Experience with Controls Engineering/PLC/HMI programming and safety.
    • Experience with Siemens S7 and TIA Portal (especially CPU Siemens 1500‑TF);
      Rockwell RSLogix 5000;
      Siemens WinCC;
      SIMATIC WinCC Unified (JavaScript).
    • Proficiency with MS Office 365, SAP and 2D/3D CAD.
    • Structured approach to complete tasks according to targets and schedule.
    • Systematic approach to execute given tasks;
      strong skills in complex troubleshooting.
    • Service orientation.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills and proactive approach to work.
    • Respect for quality standards and safety procedures.
    • Strong work ethic.
    • Availability and willingness to travel.
    • Fluent in English and Italian.
