About the Opportunity:

We are working on behalf of a leading, well-established Intellectual Property firm based in Milan, Italy . Together, we are seeking a Patent Search Specialist to join their dedicated Patent Information team.

This role offers a unique dual benefit: immediate, hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technologies across multidisciplinary sectors, combined with a clear, structured progression path toward becoming the Future Head of Patent Information Services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patent & Technical Searches: Conduct novelty, prior art, patentability, validity, and Freedom-to-Operate (FTO) searches across global databases.
• Intelligence & Monitoring: Perform competitor tracking, technology surveillance, and landscape analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Reporting & Advisory: Draft clear, structured analytical search reports and support patent attorneys in forming legal/technical opinions.
• Methodology & Leadership: Contribute to internal search strategies and knowledge management, progressively taking on higher-level team leadership responsibilities.

Key Qualifications:

• Education: University degree in Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related scientific/technical discipline.
• Experience: Hands-on experience in patent searching, scientific information retrieval, IP support, or technical research.
• Skills: Excellent analytical capabilities, systematic problem-solving skills, and fluency in written and spoken English.
• Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with professional patent databases (e.g., PatBase, Orbit Intelligence, STN, Derwent Innovation, Espacenet, Questel) is highly desirable.
• Understanding: Working knowledge of patent classification systems (IPC, CPC) and landscaping methodologies.
