Its research aims to enable robots to perceive their environment through touch and interact with the physical world intelligently, ultimately supporting people in real-world applications. To this end, the laboratory designs innovative soft systems for grasping and manipulation that combine bioinspired morphologies, architected structures, and monolithic designs in which mechanical sensing and actuation are intrinsically integrated into the robot body. /ppWithin the research team, your main responsibilities will be: /pulliKinematic modelling and analysis (of soft robots and subsystems) /liliDesign, simulation and testing of architected continuum manipulators /li /ulh3ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS /h3ulliA PhD in mechanical engineering or similar disciplines /liliDocumented experience in:ulliModeling of soft robots /liliComputer-aided design /liliArchitected structures with programmable mechanical properties /liliDesign and optimization of integrated soft systems /liliTendon-driven soft robots and fluidic soft robots /li /ul /liliStrong publication record /liliGood command of spoken and written English /li /ulh3ADDITIONAL SKILLS /h3ulliExperience in:ulliSoft grasping systems and/or sensorized soft systems: on any aspect of design, fabrication, assembling, validation etc. /lili3D printing fabrication methods (FDM, SLA, SLS, etc.) /li /ul /liliKnowledge of:ulliElephant trunk anatomy and behaviour /liliBioinspired system design approach /li /ul /liliAbility to work in a challenging and international environment /liliCapacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment /liliPossess analytical reasoning skills and a growth mindset /li /ulh3COMPENSATION PACKAGE /h3ulliA yearly gross salary from 30.000,00 to 38.000,00 euro /liliCandidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years. /li /ulpApplication’s deadline: October 24th, 2026 /ppTo discover more about life at IIT, visit the dedicated section here: /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
