As Ground Segment Engineer in the Rome-based Ground Segment Department, you will design and refine GS building blocks for EO product missions, ensuring clear interfaces and traceability. You will work within a multi-mission, constellation-focused context to develop system designs and mission planning capabilities. Your impact spans requirements flow, trade-offs, and documentation consolidation to support robust, scalable ground systems. - Analyze input requirements and related docs
- Define Ground Segment and subsystem requirements with traceability
- Evaluate design trade-offs for large satellite constellations in a multi‑mission environment
- Define GS building blocks and interfaces
- Develop Mission Planner system design and algorithm prototyping for EO missions
- Consolidate Ground Segment Baseline docs (ADD, ICD, requirements baseline, DVCM)
- Maintain the requirements baseline using DOORS/Polarion
- Participate in technical meetings with internal teams and customers
- Working heritage on major earth observation ground segment systems
- Knowledge of RADAR principles (optical knowledge welcome)
- Knowledge of system engineering processes for requirements and solution design management
- Knowledge of EO mission programming schemes and mission constraints
- Proficiency in Python and C++
- Knowledge of microservices, DevOps, and cloud technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of control segment functions (flight dynamics, spacecraft control center)
- Knowledge of SAR processing orchestration and production management functions
- Knowledge of Ground Stations (S-Band, X-Band)
- Knowledge of AI, Big Data, and deep learning techniques
- Ability to relate to people to share analysis results and facilitate problem solving
- Availability to travel
- Excellent ability to work by deadlines
