Senior Legal Counsel

In this role you provide proactive legal guidance and risk management for Generali Global Corporate & Commercial, supporting cross-border insurance and commercial activities. You will act as a trusted partner to navigate complex regulatory matters and strategic initiatives, aligning legal advice with business objectives. You’ll collaborate with local teams and external advisors to ensure compliant, efficient, and scalable support across jurisdictions. • Provide proactive legal advice on insurance, reinsurance, retrocession, IT contracts, outsourcing and related commercial activities
• Support extraordinary transactions and strategic initiatives (M&A, partnerships, complex corporate projects)
• Serve as legal reference for GC&C, delivering timely, solution-oriented guidance aligned with business goals
• Coordinate with local legal teams for consistent cross-border approaches
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel for corporate filings and transactional matters
• Identify, assess and advise on legal, regulatory and reputational risks impacting GC&C
• Monitor regulatory developments in insurance, licensing and related frameworks
• Manage non-claims litigation and coordinate with internal functions and external counsel to mitigate risk and costs
• Oversee external legal advisors ensuring quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness"-Support implementation of Group Legal policies within GC&C
• Contribute to internal training to strengthen legal awareness and compliance across GC&C
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex cross-border agreements (NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, reinsurance/retrocession, binding authority, broker TOBAs)
• Ensure contracts reflect risk allocation, regulatory requirements and Generali standards
• Develop and improve legal templates, tools, workflows, and repositories
• Promote adoption of legal tech and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency and scalability

• Master in Law
• Qualified to practise law in Italy or another EU jurisdiction
• 7-10 years in corporate/commercial law, in-house or at a top international firm
• Experience advising on complex commercial matters and stakeholder collaboration
• Strong analytical, negotiation and decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication and relationship-building in a matrix, multicultural environment
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and work under pressure
• Excellent written and spoken English (primary working language)
• Willingness to travel
