Activities include crisis monitoring and response, satellite-based emergency mapping, disaster early-warning systems, risk analytics and geospatial intelligence. /p pYou will work within a specialist geospatial team delivering analysis and assessments that support binternational crisis response, civil protection, security and humanitarian decision-making /b. /p h3The role /h3 pYou will turn satellite imagery, conflict-event datasets and heterogeneous open-source information into reliable GIS datasets, high-quality maps, interactive visualisations and timely analytical reports. /p pThe role combines badvanced spatial analysis and Earth observation /b with crisis monitoring, GIS automation, data-quality management and the development of digital geospatial information platforms. /p h3Key responsibilities /h3 ul liDesign and deliver high-quality situation maps, thematic mapping products, geographical visualisations and analytical outputs relating to crisis, conflict and security. /li liMonitor crisis, conflict and security developments, systematically selecting, collecting, validating, analysing and integrating open-source information into geospatial datasets. /li liApply advanced geoprocessing, spatial statistics and modelling techniques to produce geospatial assessments and support crisis reporting. /li liProcess and analyse remote-sensing and Earth-observation imagery in conflict-affected and disaster-affected areas, including land-use/land-cover classification, change detection, damage assessment and reconstruction monitoring. /li liCombine text, imagery, statistics and other open-source material into actionable bOSINT/GEOINT /b, structured GIS datasets and situational-awareness products. /li liDesign conflict-mapping workflows combining event-based datasets with open-source geospatial information. /li liContribute to the continued development of digital geospatial platforms and information products. /li liSupport platform maintenance, including user-access policies, user-role configurations and platform-usage monitoring. /li liSupport the integration and deployment of bAI-driven functionality and geospatial large-language-model capabilities /b within geospatial information platforms. /li liCreate, maintain and curate GIS datasets, ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance with metadata and data-model standards. /li liMaintain and optimise geodatabases, including version control, data lineage and integration with external sources. /li liManage coordinate reference systems, projections and transformations to maintain spatial accuracy across platforms. /li liImplement data-quality checks, validation rules and automated workflows to ensure spatial data is accurate, complete and consistent. /li liDevelop interactive dashboards and story maps using bPower BI and ArcGIS Online /b, covering crisis, conflict and policy-related information. /li liSupport geospatial data dissemination through web-mapping technologies, including WFS and enterprise GIS environments. /li liPrepare presentations, analytical reports, technical documentation and emergency reports explaining GIS findings and methodologies. /li liParticipate in crisis-management exercises, providing analytical geospatial products. /li liSupport operational crisis-monitoring and information-management activities, including monitoring incoming information, circulating updates and notifying relevant stakeholders of new developments or activations. /li liContribute to rapid-analysis activities when required. /li /ul h3Minimum qualifications and experience /h3 ul liUniversity degree in bInformation Technology, Geoinformatics, Geography, GIS or a related field /b, corresponding to bEQF Level 7 /b or equivalent. /li liAt least b15 years of professional IT experience /b. /li liVery good spoken and written bEnglish at CEFR B2 level or above /b. /li /ul h3Required experience /h3 pbAt least 15 years of proven experience in: /b /p ul liGIS methodologies, tools and platforms such as bArcGIS or QGIS /b, including spatial analysis and converting scientific data into static and interactive maps, dashboards and infographics. /li liData transformation, enrichment, quality assurance, dissemination and visualisation within a GIS environment. /li liAdvanced processing, integration and analysis of bEarth-observation data /b, including photo-interpretation of very-high-resolution imagery in disaster scenarios. /li libOpen-source and geospatial intelligence (OSINT/GEOINT) /b, including collecting, validating and integrating heterogeneous sources such as text, imagery, social-media feeds and statistical datasets into coherent GIS layers and situational-awareness products. /li liProcessing and analysing bsecurity and conflict data /b, including producing rapid situation maps to support situational awareness. /li /ul h3At least 10 years of proven experience in: /h3 ul libPython programming and automation /b for automated GIS pipelines. /li liDrafting technical documentation, analytical reports, emergency reports and briefs providing geospatial assessments of conflict and security. /li /ul h3At least 5 years of proven experience in: /h3 ul liInteractive visualisation and dashboard development using bPower BI and ArcGIS Online /b. /li /ul h3Additional technical expertise /h3 ul liExcellent knowledge of GIS methodologies and technologies, including bArcGIS and QGIS /b, with practical experience in spatial analysis, geospatial data management and cartographic design. /li liGood knowledge of spatial analysis methods, including computational geometry, network analysis, geostatistics, photogrammetry and remote sensing. /li liGood knowledge of geospatial data transformation, enrichment, quality assurance, dissemination and visualisation. /li liGood knowledge of Earth-observation data collection, processing, integration and analysis, including sources such as bCopernicus, Sentinel and Landsat /b. /li liExperience in advanced preprocessing and photo-interpretation of very-high-resolution satellite imagery in disaster scenarios using bENVI/ERDAS /b. /li liProgramming and scripting knowledge for automated GIS workflows, web services and software development. /li liKnowledge of bPower BI and ArcGIS Online /b for interactive dashboards. /li liProficiency in conflict and security data analysis, with knowledge of conflict-monitoring methodologies. /li liStrong knowledge of bOSINT tools and platforms /b for crisis monitoring, including ingesting near-real-time feeds and converting textual, visual and statistical information into current GIS layers. /li liExperience producing technical documentation, analytical reports, emergency reports and geospatial assessment briefs. /li /ul h3Professional skills /h3 ul liStrong spatial analysis skills and commitment to accurate data capture and reporting. /li liAbility to resolve GIS integration and configuration challenges, including those involving OSINT and GEOINT. /li liStrong organisational skills and ability to manage several large GIS projects concurrently, maintaining version control, data lineage and automated quality checks. /li liAbility to communicate GIS strategies and findings to senior stakeholders. /li liInterest in emerging GIS tools and technologies. /li liAbility to work independently and collaboratively, delivering high-quality outputs under time pressure. /li liAbility to participate effectively in multilingual meetings and multicultural working environments. /li /ul h3Certifications and security
