Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialisation drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities. /p /brpThe Senior Lecturer in the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences conducts high-quality teaching in interdisciplinary, skills-focused science courses, leading the team that delivers the capstone subjects SCIF1000 Skills in Science and SCIF1001 Advancing Science. /p /brh3About The Role /h3 /brulliLevel C ($161k - $185k) plus 17% Superannuation and annual leave loading /liliContinuing /liliFull-time (35 hours per week) /li /ul /brh3Specific Responsibilities For This Role Include /h3 /brulliLeadership of the team delivering SCIF1000 and SCIF1001 including course convening, and collaboration with academics delivering other Science Faculty (SCIF) courses. /liliApply a well-defined teaching philosophy and a critically reflective teaching practice that inspires student learning. /liliConduct classes, assess student learning achievements and support students in undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in line with UNSW policy. /liliDesign and develop learning activities and resources, and assessment and feedback at both course and program level using a range of suitable approaches and learning environments. /liliSupport learning progression with students as individuals (through such activities as one-to-one consultation and advice on Educational Learning Plans (ELPs)) and as a cohort, and implement inclusive teaching practices aligned with Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles) to achieve positive learning and employability outcomes for students. /liliManage course administration as Course Authority, including academic quality assurance. /liliMake a positive contribution by leading School meetings and seminars and be a member of School/Faculty committees as required. /liliWork collaboratively with peers across the UNSW in all aspects of academic endeavour, develop learning and teaching strategies and resources and contribute to an exchange of teaching ideas, and mentoring of staff. /liliAlign with and actively demonstrate the Code of Conduct and Values. /liliCooperate with all health safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the psychosocial or physical health and safety of yourself or others. /li /ul /brh3About The Successful Applicant /h3 /brp(Selection Criteria) /p /brh3To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have /h3 /brulliA PhD in a biological, earth or environmental science discipline, and/or relevant work experience. /liliDemonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. /liliExperience using, implementing and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods. /liliEvidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others. /liliEvidence of professional development of teaching practice in self and others with the ability to advance and lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching. /liliDemonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement. /liliEvidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills. /liliEvidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives. /liliAn understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines. /liliKnowledge of health safety (psychosocial and physical) responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training. /li /ul /brpYou should systematically address the selection criteria listed within the position description in your application. /p /brh3Contact /h3 /brpAlistair Poore /p /brpE: /p /brbApplications close: September 30th, 2026 /b /brbFind Out More About Working At UNSW At /b /brpUNSW aspires to be the exemplar Australian university and employer of choice for people from diverse backgrounds.
