As a CLAUS SOI 3 Plant Expert , you will join the Taranto Refinery's operations team and be responsible for field activities necessary to ensure the plant's safety, reliability, and operational continuity. This position is part of Eni Industrial Evolution (EIE), a company committed to managing refining, primary logistics, and industrial transformation assets.

Main activities:
  • Carry out management, surveillance and operation activities in the field, ensuring the safety, reliability and operational continuity of the plant
  • Monitor process parameters and equipment status through operational checks, periodic inspections and sampling, identifying and reporting any anomalies
  • Perform start-ups, shutdowns, alignments, isolations and safety measures on operating systems and machines (pumps, compressors and process equipment), in compliance with operating procedures
  • Support the control room in plant management, ensuring correct alignment between field operations and process setup
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel and third-party companies, preparing the operating conditions necessary for the safe execution of work and managing the remediation, drainage and inertization activities of the equipment
  • Verify the efficiency of safety systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with operating procedures, HSE regulations and company standards
  • Intervene in abnormal or emergency situations according to company procedures and the Internal Emergency Plan, contributing to the safety of the systems
  • Support the training of less experienced personnel, ensure effective handover between shifts, and contribute to the continuous improvement of operational performance, safety, and plant reliability.

 


Required characteristics:

 

 

  • High school diploma in a technical field, preferably in mechanical or chemical engineering
  • At least 3 years of experience in the process industry
  • Ability to work in a team, to comply with operational and safety procedures and to manage activities in the field
  • Knowledge of industrial plants, process equipment and instrumental components is an advantage.
  • Availability to work shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays


The profile is completed by:

 

 

  • Experience in operating petroleum refining and treatment plants (Merox, Hydrotreating, Desulphurization, Claus or similar units)
  • Knowledge of the main process equipment (columns, furnaces, exchangers, tanks, pumps, compressors, flare systems)
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process diagrams and technical documentation
  • Knowledge of Permit to Work (PdL), Lock-Out/Tag-Out systems and plant safety procedures
  • Knowledge of HSE regulations, Seveso regulations and emergency management procedures
  • Ability to analyze and manage operational anomalies, safety orientation, and aptitude for teamwork.
