EXPERT AGRONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INNOVATION

As an Agronomic Development Innovation Expert, you will be part of the Global Natural Resources Directorate . Specifically, within your Technical Activity for Agri Feedstock team , you will manage the conduct of field trials and experiments to identify species/varieties of interest in the countries where you operate and to improve the agronomic and economic performance of the projects.

Main activities:

• Monitoring crop performance and identifying potential risks; overseeing field operations; collaborating with local farmers, cooperatives, and government agencies; coordinating with research institutes and agricultural organizations.
• Implementation of sustainable agricultural techniques, soil management and plant disease control
• Training and capacity building: Provision of technical training to farmers, field officers, and project staff on oilseed crops and good agricultural practices.

 

Required characteristics:

 

 

• Master's degree in Agricultural Sciences, with preference for specializations in Tropical Agronomy, Environment and Bioenergy; other qualifications may be considered, based on significant experience in the role
• At least 5 years of work experience in managing agronomic innovation projects, preferably in the field of screening and varietal testing of herbaceous crops
• Knowledge of cropping systems for the production of oilseed crops intended for the production of biofuels, with particular reference to innovative plant species (novel crops) suitable as catch crops, in rotation with food crops or suitable for cultivation on degraded soils
• Proven experience in parcel-based agronomic experimentation and knowledge of agricultural machinery and equipment dedicated to experimentation
• Knowledge of digital solutions for agriculture and agricultural digital platforms
• Ability to work in a team and coordinate internal or external resources, in an international work environment
• Ability to interact with agricultural companies, research institutions and academic institutions
• Good knowledge of the English language
• Availability for national and international mobility

The profile is completed by:

 

 

• Basic knowledge of breeding and varietal selection techniques
• Previous experience in regenerative agriculture models and experience in precision agriculture models
• Experience in non-European contexts in the agricultural or agronomic experimentation field
• Knowledge of French and Portuguese is a plus.
