As Head of the Engineering Branch at CMRE, you steer engineering strategy, governance, and delivery to advance maritime research and innovation for NATO. You lead multi-disciplinary teams, oversee complex projects, and ensure safe, compliant, and timely outcomes aligned with the Centre’s mission and NATO policies. You will balance technical excellence with budget discipline and resource planning, while shaping modernization initiatives and transition of science to operations.Retribuzione / Benefits
- Define and monitor the Branch’s strategic objectives, planning, and budget in collaboration with Head EITD
- Provide technical governance to ensure on-time, on-budget, high-quality project delivery
- Identify and introduce new technologies to improve performance and value for money
- Evaluate external and internal technical requirements for feasibility, resources, costs, and risks
- Lead and develop the Branch’s engineering workforce and promote a service-oriented culture
- Oversee scope, schedule, cost, and quality across engineering projects
- Ensure operational capability across technical domains and appoint engineering coordinators
- Support transition of scientific outputs to operational engineering and ensure compliance with NATO policies
- Ensure safety, quality, asset management, and lifecycle control across activities
- Plan maintenance and calibration of all Engineering Branch equipment
- Advise on programme development and future growth opportunities
- Contribute to modernization engineering activities and organizational staffing decisions
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Head EITD
- 5+ years of senior leadership in a technology domain (defence/maritime sensors/unmanned systems)
- Proven leadership in evolving environments and change management
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering complex projects
- Experience evaluating technical requirements from scientific projects (functional specs, feasibility studies, cost assessment)
- Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline with 5 years’ relevant experience OR Bachelor’s degree with 8 years’ relevant experience
- Fluent in one NATO language; knowledge of a second is desirable
