Your core design decisions reach the CTO the same week you make them. /p /li lipbLicensing-grade work. /b Your analyses become part of a formal NRC submittal – the highest-rigour environment in the industry, and a credential that follows you for the rest of your career. /p /li lipbTwo missions in one machine. /b Carbon-free power and isotope production for cancer diagnostics and treatment. /p /li /ul h3What you'll own /h3 pYou’ll be the reactor physics authority on the MMR core – from first-principles modelling through to defending your numbers in front of a regulator. /p ul lipbCore design optimisation /b – define and iterate the core configuration, working the trade space between reactivity, thermal limits, cycle length and manufacturability. /p /li lipbNeutronics analysis /b – criticality and reactivity coefficients, burnup and depletion, cross-section generation, flux and power distributions. /p /li lipbShielding dose /b – shielding design, dose rate calculations, and validation of radiation barriers. /p /li lipbFuel cycle /b – fuel management strategy and fuel cycle analysis for a first-of-a-kind core. /p /li lipbLicensing support /b – produce the analyses and technical documentation that support the NRC submittal, and engage directly with regulators and reviewers. /p /li lipbSafety analysis /b – support risk assessment and failure mode analysis on reactor components alongside the safety team. /p /li lipbMethod tool development /b – improve the models, workflows and verification practices the team will rely on for the next decade.br/ /p /li /ul h3Essential /h3 ul lipMSc in Nuclear Engineering, Reactor Physics, or a closely related field. /p /li lipStrong grounding in breactor physics /b – you can explain why a core behaves the way your model says it does. /p /li lipHands-on experience with at least one Monte Carlo or deterministic neutronics code: bSerpent, MCNP, SCALE, PARCS /b, or equivalent. /p /li lipWorking knowledge of nuclear safety principles and a regulatory framework (bNRC, IAEA, or a national equivalent /b). /p /li lipThe engineering judgement to know when a result is wrong before the reviewer tells you. /p /li lipClear written English – your documentation will be read by regulators. /p /li /ul h3Nice to have (genuinely optional) /h3 ul lipPhD in reactor physics, neutronics, or radiation transport. /p /li lipExperience contributing to a blicensing submittal /b or safety case. /p /li lipMicro-reactor, SMR, HTGR, molten salt or research-reactor experience. /p /li lipRadioisotope production experience. /p /li lipScripting for automation and coupling (Python). /p /li lipbItalian /b— useful for working with (the Italian engineering team / partners), not required. /p /li /ul h3Don't tick every box? /h3 pApply anyway.
