Senior Field Engineer - Italy

In this role you drive the adoption of IonQ's quantum solutions by engaging with customers, translating needs into technical proposals, and guiding proof‑of‑concept demonstrations. You will lead client discussions across compute, network, security, sensing, and space, and collaborate with product and engineering to incorporate feedback. The position blends technical rigor with sales enablement, requiring hands‑on quantum understanding and effective communication. • Explain IonQ's strategy and quantum portfolio to clients and answer technical questions
• Lead client discussions and map quantum algorithms to application code for PoCs
• Share client insights with Product Management and Engineering to inform roadmaps
• Translate business needs into technical proposals in collaboration with the team
• Create sales assets and assist with advancing prospects through the sales funnel
• Develop a pipeline of opportunities across IonQ's quantum domains
• Lead client workshops and stimulate new quantum use cases

• 10 years of experience leading applied technology initiatives and innovation
• Strong communication and customer‑facing skills with high EQ
• Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, ML, Data Science or other STEM field
• Motivated learner with passion for applied Quantum Mechanics across computing, network, security, sensing
• Preferred: 5+ years in technical sales or equivalent; hands‑on experience with Qiskit, Cirq or other SDKs; Python and Jupyter Notebooks
• Expert architecture skills across technologies; experience leading technical events
