Meritocracy was founded in 2014 by Riccardo Galli and Alberto Manassero with the support of United Ventures, one of the main venture capital operators in Italy. On October 2015, Meritocracy obtained from United Ventures a second round of financing with the goal to support technology development and to expand its presence on the Italian market.

On May 2018 Openjobmetis (www.openjobmetis.it) acquired 100% of Meritocracy S.r.l., the company behind Meritocracy. The goal of Meritocracy is now to continue the expansion on the European market in particular in Germany and to become the main point of reference for digital professions in Europe.
